FISHING COMPETITIONS

Steve Williamson has been working as an event manager for fishing competitions since early 1995.     Steve spent 9 years on the Snowy Mountains Trout Festival Committee representing Snowline Caravan Park. In the years between 1996 and 1999 Steve worked with the Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce as event coordinator for 'Shout About Trout' which went onto win 2 local Snowy Mountains Tourism Awards and also an award at the NSW Tourism Awards. After the devastating bush fires of 2003, Steve was asked by Tourism NSW and Tourism Snowy Mountains top run a fishing related event that would help promote fishing again. The event 'The Snowy Mountains Celebrity Trout Challenge' went on to win the Judges Choice at the 2004 NSW and ACT Tourism Awards. In 2006 Steve was approached to help organise and event manage the Snowy River Shire Centenary Trout Challenge which was another huge success. Steve is passionate about promoting fishing to youth and and to families.

Koala Shores Family Fishing Challenge

3rd and 4th May 2008

The weekend of the 3rd and 4th May saw the first of the Discovery Parks ‘So you think you can fish NSW series’ at Lemon Tree Passage.

All that attended had a fantastic time and the weather was kind.

Anglers from as far as Tumut, Jindabyne, Merimbula and Canberra competed in what was very tough conditions. 14 days of torrential rain prior to the event left the water filthy dirty and the big fish were definitely off the bite.

Most anglers managed plenty of small fish but the big ones were hard to come by.

Anyhow the event was fantastic and anglers will be back again in 2009.

Dates for 2009 are 27th, 28th and 29th March.
