SNOWY MOUNTAINS FLY FISHING WEEKEND

 To be Advised - 2010

This weekend has been set up for anglers that have had some tuition on fly fishing and would like a low cost guided weekend of fly fishing the beautiful Snowy Mountains area. Local conditions will determine what rivers or lakes are fished, but we should be able to cover at least 4 locations in the two days of fishing we have planned.

Lakes Jindabyne and Eucumbene as well as the Thredbo, Upper Snowy, Mowambah, Gungarlin, Eucumbene and the Murrumbidgee Rivers are all possible fishing locations depending on what is fishing the best.

On water fishing and casting instruction will be provided as will any necessary tackle that you might need. This is your chance to get some on water tuition and expert guiding by locals that know the area and local conditions backwards.

Steve Williamson, local guide and author of ‘Trout Fishing the Snowy Mountains’ will lead the party over the weekend.

COST - $380.00 per person. (includes GST).

RIO

REDINGTON

This weekend is supported by
‘J.M. Gillies’, ‘Rio’, 'Redington' and ‘Freshwater Fishing Magazine’

About the weekend
This weekend is about helping you learn all about fishing the Snowy Mountains area.
I will be guiding you into my favorite spots, where you will learn all about the necessary methods, to suit the conditions of the day, used to catch trout in each location.
So many anglers come to the Snowys and go away disappointed with their results. This is usually due to their lack of knowledge of the local fishing conditions.
Head guide of ‘Lake Jindabyne Trout Fishing Adventures’, Steve Williamson, has been fishing the mountains for over 30 years and guiding professionally for 17 years. There is no other person more knowledgeable about local fishing conditions. His knowledge has been proven by record sales of his book ‘Trout Fishing the Snowy Mountains’ which is now on the best sellers list.

How much fishing will we be doing?
This weekend is all about fishing. We will start early on Saturday morning and will fish until late.
Sunday will be another early start but we aim to finish fishing at 2pm to allow those that are returning home to do so. There will be at least 16 hours of on water fishing over the weekend.

What experience do I need?
The weekend is all about guiding and instruction on the local waters. So long as you have been fly fishing previously you will have a great time and are guaranteed to learn a lot.
Instruction will be provided for those angers that would like to improve their fishing techniques.

What do I bring?
Just bring your normal fly fishing tackle. If for some reason you do not own any gear, we will be able to provide all that will be necessary at no extra cost. This is also your chance to try out a few different rods as well.
Don’t rush out and buy anything. We will provide flies and all terminal tackle at no extra cost.

Will accommodation be provided?
No, this special price requires you to arrange your own accommodation. We can however help with packages.

What about meals?
While you are being guided, all refreshments and meals are included in the price. You will have to provide your own breakfasts and dinners and there are plenty of options available if you wish to get take away or eat out.

How do I go about booking?
Due to the limited number of people each weekend, 50% deposit will be required to secure your position and full payment is required 14 days prior to the weekend. Please fill out a booking sheet with all of your details and return it to - ‘Lake Jindabyne Trout Fishing Adventures’ P.M.B. 5 Jindabyne, NSW. 2627.

KHANCOBAN FLY FISHING WEEKEND

Proposed February 2010

“Exploring Khancoban District”

with Steve Williamson

This weekend is being set up for those fly anglers that would like to explore the other side of the Snowy Mountains. As many rivers, steams and lakes will be explored over the weekend as we can, but at a relaxed pace to ensure you also have time to take in the beauty of the Khancoban area.

You do not have to be a expert fly angler as instruction will be provided for those that still need some help and I can also provide all rods, reels and tackle if required.

I have also employed the services of Neal Bennetts who has lived and fished the area for over 35 years.

Neal is a retired member of the Professional Fishing Guides and Instructors Association (PFIGA) and he will be showing us some of is favorite fishing locations on the Swampy Plains, the Mitta, the Indi and Upper Murray Rivers and he has also exclusive access to wilderness waters, previously  closed to anglers.

If given the time we will also be fishing Khancoban Pondage.

Purchased by the late Mike Spry in the 1990’s, is was always Mike’s dream set up Queens Cottage as an exclusive fly fishing lodge. Mike was the grandfather of guiding in Australia and was responsible for setting up the Professional Fishing Guides and Instructors Association of Australia in1990, so our trip is also a celebration of Mike’s life in what is also the 20th Anniversary of the PFIGA.

Queens Cottage has recently been purchased and renovated by Andrew and Anne Laycock, previous owners of the Khancoban Hotel. Andrew and Anne will be taking us back in history showing us some of the memorabilia from earlier days of Queens Cottage and Mike Spry’s personal fly fishing collection.
